Through Hedley Solutions Ltd framework agreement with Barclays Bank PLC, the full refurbishment of all services throughout the Bedford High Street branch were undertaken, over three floors, replacing all components regarding lighting design, power outlets, air conditioning, heating system, plumbing, fire alarm and data cabling infrastructure.
The £430,000.00 project was fast track, lasting a period of only twelve weeks 12-11-07 to 11-02-08, with only two closure periods of four days. All installation works were carried out during non banking hours, with all services available to branch employees allowing normal service to be available to customers at all times.
Hedley Solutions Ltd engineering staff were on site throughout the contract working alongside a building contractor, constant updates and subsequent design changes were implemented by the clients design team, presenting various challenges with a ‘live design’ culture being adopted at times to meet expectation.
All electrical mains distribution shutdowns and replacement of air conditioning plant were undertaken with no disruption to the delivery, controlled system interchanges were carefully planned to enable this.
The replacement of the data cabling infrastructure was also designed in such a way enabling a switch over period to take place with no end user disruption and maintaining an ‘on line’ situation at all times.
All desktop IT hardware relocations were undertaken by fully trained Hedley Solutions Ltd engineers, allowing works to continue regardless of location within the branch giving all other parties the opportunity to continue their respective works with the ‘safety blanket’ that at the end of each shift the branch would return to a fully operational state for trading the following day. This was maintained throughout the contract.
The final design incorporated many non standard Barclays Bank features, with subsequent refurbishment works in other branches nationwide adopting a selection of these new components and ideas.
