Hedley Solutions (Durham) have recently completed data and fibre works for the Ministry of Defence within James Cook University Hospital Middlesbrough.
We had just finished data cabling works within an originally empty floor at James Cook University Hospital which was to include cabling for the MOD to utilise within the trusts offices. Cabling works for the MOD however were put on hold, as due to the MOD’s stringent security standards we were asked to follow their JSP Standards for installation.
Having checked the MOD’s required standards and specification it was clear we had to organise a totally separate installation to meet their needs and one which would comply with their “JSP” standards and regulations.
They required all data cabling to be shielded and contained within galvanised conduit throughout its full length. A Fibre optic cable was also to be installed as a link to the trusts network and again had to be contained within steel conduit thought its full length. Within the offices of the MOD all cabling travelling down the cavities of the walls had to be contained within flexible steel conduit.
Once our cabling entered the dado trunking within the offices it was also requested that cabling was to be contained again within flexible steel conduit inside the trunking for extra security.
The works required specialist skilled engineers to install the metal containment and also specially trained competent fibre engineers to terminate the fibre cores.
Working together, utilising the engineer's data cabling experience, innovation and expertise and under my direction supporting the needs of the customer, Hedley Solutions completed the works to the high standard required by the MOD.
